To be honest, I did not use Evernote as much as I could have during this course. I initially thought it was too confusing to use and therefore was opposed to it. However, after being forced to use it for the Unit Plan assignment I have found that it is more helpful than I originally thought. The PKB I created during this semester through Evernote is not very impressive. I acquired most of my resources during the class period that was devoted to acquiring resources with Evernote. When I did that, I used a very rapid style of acquiring resources that resulted in 18 notes. I simply speed through google searches trying to find anything that seemed to relate to my Unit Plan. I used the Evernote Web clipper application to quickly capture the resources I needed for Evernote. There was not really an organization scheme to the resources I acquired that day.
However, I was really taken with the organization scheme we used for our Unit Plan. The simple idea Dr. Fogleman gave us to start the name of each note with a 01, 02, 03 ect. was very easy to grasp. I also found that using this system it was extremely easy for me to navigate the shared notebook and find my uploads. I will definitely use this system in the future if I continue to use Evernote. I also do think that Evernote is something I would definitely continue to use after seeing it in action during the Unit Plan assignment. Thought I initially had some issues with creating links, I was able to overcome the problem by downloading the Evernote App onto my Mac. After that, I found it very easy to link notes to other notes. Though the most effective resource Evernote has to offer in my opinion in the web clipper application that can be inserted into your browser. I also love the fact that I can access my notes from my phone and i-pad as well as my laptop. The thing I dislike most about Evernote is how slow it is sometimes.
Though Evernote is obviously a great education resource I think it might also be useful to use for my side project. I am trying to write a fiction novel series and I feel that Evernote would be a great tool to use to organize all my notes for the series. I think the linking of notes would come in handy to organize my character descriptions and relationships.
